FRAYMAN Anita

Dr Anita Frayman is a accredited mediator, solicitor and researcher with special interest in older people.
Anita obtained an industry scholarship, as part of a larger Australian Research Council grant, for her recently completed doctoral research. Her research explored the effects of people’s different cultural backgrounds upon their experience of ageing in Australia. She has co-authored and contributed to publications in this area, and delivered numerous conference papers on cultural diversity, ageing, migration and intergenerational conflict.
In addition to her experience as a lawyer and her academic research, Anita also has extensive, hands-on business experience. Over the last decade, she established a successful franchisor business, which now has multiple franchisees across Victoria.
Anita is an adjunct of the School of Philosophical Historical and International Studies at Monash University, a member of a number of committees, including an executive member of the Australian Association of Gerontology (Vic), a member of the Aged Care Policy Committee of the Ethnic Community Council of Victoria, and a member of the Quality and Service Review Committee of a Melbourne aged care home.
Anita’s interest in elder mediation combines her experiences as a lawyer, her negotiations in and understanding of commercial dealings, as well as the knowledge she has gained from her doctoral research into the experiences of older people and her close affiliation with a number of aged care institutions.
