Kay Feeney is a highly regarded member of the family law community. Kay started her
working life as a teacher and that remains evident in her interest in education, mentoring,
and her approach to clients. She combines unrivalled technical expertise with a unique talent
for coaching clients into more disciplined and productive behaviours.
She can provide strategic advice across the entire spectrum of relationship needs, utilising
her skills in mediation, collaboration and litigation. In each domain, Kay’s technical
competence and tenacity of purpose is obvious. She is experienced in property matters
involving high value, complex corporate structures and has acted in children’s matters with
the complexity of parental deficits and children with special needs.
Kay writes and presents as a frequent contributor to Continuing Legal Education Seminars.
She writes in the Child Support arena and has lectured on Spouse Maintenance to the QUT
practice course for many years. Kay is a regular presenter with the Television Education
Network. She has also undertaken several Administrative Review rolls including the Migration
Review Tribunal and the then SSAT.
Kay has presented “How to limit conflict in Family Law matters” at two US conferences and
has recently presented at two European conferences “Family Lawyers & Legal Professional
Privilege” and “Property Settlements & Spouse Maintenance for the Elderly”.
Kay’s interest in the resolution process is further evident by her position on the Board of the
Australian Association of Collaborative Professionals and as President of the Queensland
Association of Collaborative Practitioners. Kay is also a member of a number of Associations
and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
