In her elder mediations, Amanda Molomby supports families to discuss their concerns about their elder relative as they progress through the ageing process. Amanda grew up in a household that included her elderly grandparents and as they aged, assisted her parents caring for them. Prior to undertaking her nurses training, Amanda worked in a high dependency care unit in an aged care facility.
After completing her law degree, she worked in Succession Law. The advice she gave to her clients included executing enduring powers of attorney and advanced health care directives. The wishes of her older clients regarding their future care reminded her of the worries her parents experienced in caring for her grandparents. Amanda believed that there was a less formal way of discussing these needs and concerns and so she undertook her Master in Laws in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
In 2008, she furthered her knowledge and skills by training specifically in the area of elder mediation in the United States and became an accredited elder mediator with Elder Decisions (USA).
Through over three thousand mediations, Amanda has helped families resolve conflict and improve their communication skills to rebuild relationships.
Amanda has written about, held workshops and presented at conferences on Elder Mediation.
Amanda is a member of the Queensland Law Society ADR Committee and is a founding member of the Queensland Chapter of LEADR.
