Daan Spijer studied science and law at the University of Melbourne and graduated in law in 1972. In 1977-79 he trained as a therapist in London and worked in that field through the 1980s in Melbourne.
From mid-1991 to mid-2007 he was CEO of a small non-profit medical college, where he also edited its quarterly medical journal. In his ‘spare’ time in the 1980s and 1990s, he dabbled seriously in IT and computer programming.
Daan now works as an accredited mediator and FDRP and still does some legal and regulatory work for a small pharmaceutical manufacturer.
Daan has been writing for most of his life: poetry, short stories, essays, plays, a blog and book reviews, and has won numerous awards with these. He has written two YA novels and a YA novella, all still looking for a publisher. He has had short stories, poems and essays included in anthologies and four of his short plays have been performed in Australia, UK, USA and India. Daan is also a keen photographer with his photos winning both Australian and international awards.
He lives on the Mornington Peninsula (south of Melbourne) with his wife, Sally, and groodle, Brian.
