Mitchell, Michael

Michael has over 30 years’ experience providing, dispute resolution assistance to a variety of parties
in conflict and dispute together with restorative engagement services in trauma informed practices,
personal injury and workplace disputes. Michael also Facilitates as a Mediator or Conciliator in
numerous Dispute Resolution (DR) panels including commercial and building disputes, the National
Sports Tribunal and for many years as a Registrar at the Administrative Review Tribunal. Michael is a
Restorative Engagement facilitator for the Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman and Victorian
Government in various programs and aims at ensuing a safe voice for the participant to be heard and
acknowledged.
Michael provides training for various organisations in DR methodologies and has been a Seminar
Leader at university undergraduate and postgraduate level at La Trobe University Law School. Michael
co-convenes training for professional mediators, conciliators and other interested DR stakeholders
across variousjurisdictions and DR organisationsthroughout Australia and New Zealand, in his role as
Director at Object Resolve Pty Ltd.
Michael also worked for 10 years as a Ministerial Appointed Conciliation Officer in Victorian Workers’
Compensation jurisdiction and was appointed to the inaugural ACCS (WIC) Board of Management
in 2017. Michael is a current member of both VADR, and AARJ (having served on the VARJ-AARJ
committee for over 10 years). Michael is a Nationally Accredited Mediator, a Nationally Accredited
Conciliator and a Fellow of the Resolution Institute.

• Graduate Diploma – Labour Relations Law – University of Melbourne
• Bachelor of Arts/Social Sciences – Major (Legal Studies) – La Trobe Uni.
